An Open Letter to Jeb Bush

An Open Letter to Jeb Bush
(and Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Bill Sasse, George Will and the rest....you know who you are)

First, quit whining. It is tiresome and beneath you. You come across as arrogant and petty....but mostly petty.

Second, I am the Republican Party. I count. My vote counts. And the fact that you ignore me and the millions of others in our party tells me more about your character than I thought I knew during your time as my Governor. I held my nose and voted for YOU, twice. Did I complain or write op-ed pieces? No. I sat back and supported you while you gave tax breaks to the wealthy, worked to dismantle our education system, ignored my soaring property insurance and taxes, did nothing about entitlement fraud or small business breaks, while gaving breaks to your wealthy donors. Why? Because I am loyal to the Republican Party. I vote straight Republican; always have and always will. I have given this entrenched political class, this Congress, 7 1/2 years to do SOMETHING worthwhile, but they have let us down as well. Like millions of other Americans, we are broke, tired, frustrated, and see no point continuing down the path of political elitism.

This election season just wasn't your time, and now after your behavior, will never be your time. You will be forever remembered as petulant, petty and not true to your word.

Did I complain or write op-ed pieces when your brother entered us into a war that was sure to fail? You can't win when you don't fully understand the enemy and the inherent nature of their allies in the region to rise up against you. Too many lives were lost in the Middle East.....for what? I have yet to hear a plausible reason for the senseless death and injury to our young, brave soldiers. (I don't believe the WMD story.) But...I voted for him as well. I am a loyal party member. Where's your loyalty?

Now, in all fairness, I understand how it must feel to be on the receiving end of an abrasive person. No one should be called names or be emasculated in public. If you feel you need an apology to move on, please let me be the one to sincerely apologize, directly to you. As any person should be, you are fully entitled to respect and dignity from others. I cannot take back what has been said or done, but I am ready to move forward....for MY AMERICA.

As a fellow Republican, I implore you to stop campaigning for Hillary Clinton. No matter what you feel about our current ticket, that should not erase what good you feel you have done for the Republican Party. Is the Party changing? Sure, it is changing. Can you bring it back to the Good 'Ole Boys network? I sure hope not. I will no longer vote and support those who are insiders.

You mentioned rebuilding trust in the party and counting on Paul Ryan to keep our new president in check. Has he ONCE done that to Obama? He is a sellout. And speaking of trust....you signed a pledge to support the Party candidate. If you can't be trusted to do that, you just can't be trusted. I didn't agree with Ted Cruz on many things either, including his behavior, but at least he is willing to speak at the convention. He does not need to praise our nominee; his presence speaks volume on his character. What does your op-ed piece say about you?

You say we need strong leadership. I thought I voted for strong leadership....thought we had strong majority leadership in Congress, but I was sadly mistaken. Those bozos have done NOTHING but give Obama exactly what he wants. The entire leadership has to be replaced.....and replaced again if that doesn't work.

I am not a millennial with entitlement issues, nor do I get easily offended or  require a silly safe space. I don't care about being politically correct. Our country has gone to hell and for some reason you blame Donald J. Trump. I blame Obama and all politicians, yes, including you and the rest of your kind that feel entitled to something. We need change, we need a tough leader and I don't care how he goes about returning our country to what it was....what it should be.

I have been working my entire life, since I was sixteen. I know what it means to be responsible, respectful and accountable for my actions, but where has that landed me? Sadly, I now envision working until I can no longer sit or stand because I am the one paying for all your failures. I am sick and tired of paying for the lazy, entitlement groups you perpetuate. You feel open borders and free immigration is an act of love, I see it as a policy to import crime and poverty. States are burdened with costs from open border policies, citizens are burdened with funding their states. Your vision for the future is reckless and not what we need now.

In light of the murderous rampage against our law enforcement officers lately, I sit back and reflect on what I think you would do vs. what I think others would do. Sadly, I don't see you or any current politician handling this with the proper temperament. More discussions on what to do or more meetings placating those who spew hate have been proven ineffective.  We need action! They need someone who has their back! I haven't seen any op-ed pieces on this from you.

Quite frankly, if you feel Hillary Clinton is as corrupt as we all know her to be, you should vote with the Republican Party for the Republican Party ticket. If you feel otherwise, maybe it's time you become a democrat. If you feel you can move past this, support the Republican Party, and quit whining, we will gladly welcome you back with open arms. As Christians, and for the sake of party unity, we can forgive. If you are a Christian, you can forgive.

Finally, one note of caution you should consider: I am not alone in my frustration. My long standing democratic friends and family, in and out of the State of Florida, are now voting Republican --- our time for change has come and they are voting for Donald J. Trump so he can MAKE AMERICA GREAT (and safe) AGAIN.

I hope and pray....God Blesses America. We need all the help we can get!
