Toilet paper and truth telling

There is always a case for telling the truth, no matter how ugly it seems.

Let's take yesterday for example: My owners came home and found a mound of shredded paper on the bathroom floor. I'll be the first to admit I don't like to be scolded and should have brought it to my owner's attention as soon as they got home, but I thought if I ignored it, no one would notice. What happened next is truly baffling: they asked me if I had made that mess! Let's see....I was the only one home all day, so the odds of narrowing down the suspect lean toward my owners getting it right on the first try. Sure enough, I was in trouble so I hid instead of facing the truth. Next I tried to bring out one of my toy monkeys, with paper stuck to it, like that would explain the real culprit.

I am sad to report that neither ploy worked, I got in trouble, and the door will forever be shut when I am home alone.

Thinking back on the situation, if I had just sat next to the pile and fessed up I don't think my owners would have been angry. They knew I was bored while home alone all day and knew we had a loud storm which makes me extremely anxious. I probably would have been easily forgiven considering the extenuating circumstances.

This is what happened to Donald Trump. I am not referring to the toilet paper, in which a case could be made for some of the other presidential candidates. I am referring to him telling the truth about the Mexican government propelling the hundreds of thousands of immigrants over our border and about our government making their entry too easy. I am also referring to the crime wave, health costs, state costs and entitlements that come with that wave. Sometimes the truth hurts.
"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
George Orwell (1903 - 1950)
